According to one forecast, smart meter shipments will see a worldwide compound annual growth rate of 13 percent between 2010 and 2015, with a total of 460.9 million smart meters shipped during that forecast period. 2  In Texas, one electric delivery company alone plans to implement smart meters for 3 million homes and businesses by 2012.
