FMM1040E ERROR DURING RESTORE ON LINUX WHICH REMOVES LOGICAL VOLUMES EVEN IF FILE SYSTEMS CANNOT BE UNMOUNTED

Problem description: | |
IBM Spectrum Protect Snapshot restore operations on Linux may fail with error FMM1040E indicating a VolumeManagerLogicalVolumeError because one file system that should be restored could not be unmounted. The IBM Spectrum Protect Snapshot does not detect that the file system is busy and could not be unmounted but instead continues with the restore processing and tries to remove the corresponding logical volume which then fails. If multiple file systems should be restored and some of them could be unmounted successfully, this may result in some logical volumes of those unmounted file systems also being removed. Another logical volume in this case could not be removed and caused the described error message. L2 Diagnostic: The restore log file shows the error FMM1040E: FMM0172I Start of listing of exported volume groups/unmounting file systems ... FMM0590I Unmounting the file system /ABC/UT1/abclog/UT1... FMM0590I Unmounting the file system /ABC/UT1/abcdata/UT1... FMM0568I Removing volume group UT1log0vg .... FMM0189I Semaphore released. Local Fix:
Identify and solve the reason why the filesystem could not be unmounted and rerun the snapshot restore operation
Solution | |
Workaround | |

Comment | |
This represents a valid error scenario. However, the software proceeds and deletes the logical volumes even if the file systems were not unmounted.
