IBM Spectrum Protect for Enterprise Resource Planning 
Data Protection for SAP for DB2 is designed to be used with the 
DB2 log manager as a single one of both log archive methods 
in the DB2 database configuration, 
either as LOGARCHMETH1 or as LOGARCHMETH2. 
 
In contradiction to the product's design, the following 
misleading choice is presented by the installer:

Which DB2 Log Manager method do you want to use for SAP 
Note: The DB2 instance must be started for the following 
changes to take effect. Current settings for LOGARCHMETH 
and corresponding LOGARCHOPT entries will be overridden. 
 
  ->1- None 
    2- LOGARCHMETH1 
    3- LOGARCHMETH2 
    4- Both 
 
ENTER THE NUMBER FOR YOUR CHOICE, 
  OR PRESS <ENTER> TO ACCEPT THE DEFAULT

Since the product is not designed for use with "Both", 
the installer should not present this choice. 
 
The manuals should get updated to document this properly. 
 
Adding the product to both log archive methods (e.g. with the 
intention to store 2 log copies) can yield unexpected results. 
For example problems with the deletion of obsolete 
logs by the MAX_VERSIONS parameter have been reported.

If the product is to store more than one redo log copy, 
do not select the installer choice "Both", but use the 
initSID.utl parameter REDOLOG_COPIES instead.

The option to configure both log archive methods has been 
removed from the installer of IBM Spectrum Protect for 
Enterprise Resource Planning.
