DB2 - Problem description

Problem IT23657 Status: Closed

Db2 skips verifying checksum for page from temp table

product:
DB2 FOR LUW / DB2FORLUW / A50 - DB2
Problem description:
Db2 skips verifying checksum for page from temp table.
For example, index corruption will be occurred in the
following scenario.

1) Start REORG INDEXES command.
2) If sort overflow happens when sorting data of index key,
   Db2 uses temp table.
3) Whilst using temp table and a H/W trouble happens,
such as bad SFP module of SAN where Db2 temporary
tablespace resides, corrupted data will be passed to Db2.
4) Db2 doesn't notice data corruption because Db2 skips
verifying checksum for page from temp table.
5) Corrupted INDEX is created unexpectedly.

* Not only REORG INDEXES but also any SQL may be affected
whilst it uses temp table and a H/W trouble with it.
* There is no workaround.
