'ONMODE -C BLOCK' CAN LEAVE THE RSS BLOCKED AFTER A NETWORK ERROR WAS RESOLVED IF DELAY_APPLY IS SET |

| Problem description: |
The 'onmode -c block' command (and/or its SQL API counterpart
task('onmode','c','block')) can leave the RSS blocked in ARCHIVE
state
when following conditions are met:
- the DELAY_APPLY ONCONFIG parameter is set to 1 or more on the
RSS
- the 'onmode -c block' is run on RSS when the network
connection to primary node is down
- the network connection is restored right before the 'onmode -c
block' times out
- a checkpoint occurred on the primary while the network was
down
Even though the onmode command eventually returns the error
"onmode could not block server", the RSS stays blocked:
$ onstat -
IBM Informix Dynamic Server Version 11.70.FC8W1 -- Read-Only
(RSS) -- Up 00:17:25 -- 182804 Kbytes
Blocked:ARCHIVE
The logical logs from primary are then not applied and the user
threads (sqlexec) are blocked in 'cond wait block' state.
The only option of how to get out of that state is to restart
the RSS instance. |
