STORED PROCEDURE ACCESSING REMOTE DATABASE MAY USE INCORRECT DATABASE NAME

| Problem description: |
A stored procedure that constructs the name of the remote
database server and database name in order to execute a remote
procedure may connect to the wrong remote database name under
certain circumstances. This happens when a foreach loop is used
to extract the database server and database name from a lookup
table and the table contains multiple database names that are
different. Even though the string is constructed correctly when
the remote procedure is executed the remote database name that
is used will always be the first one encountered. The result of
this operation could either be an SQL error if the remote
procedure does not exist in the target database or perhaps the
wrong results if it is able to execute.
If a foreach loop is not used to construct the remote server or
database name then the problem does not occur. |
