ONMODE -D DELETE RSS CRASHES THE RS SECONDARY IT IS REMOVING FROM THE PRIMARY
product: | |
INFORMIX SERVER / 5725A3900 / B50 - IDS 11.50
Problem description: | |
After running onmode -d delete RSS on the primary server, the RS secondary it is removing will crash with the following error messages: 17:02:40 Unexpected RSS Authentication Failure during Initialization Phase 17:02:40 Server ol_informix1210rss is not defined as an RSS node. This can occur because the server has never been defined on the primary or the primary was restored from a backup. 17:02:40 DR:Shutting down the server. 17:02:40 DR:Terminating the master daemon to bring system down immediately. 17:02:41 The Master Daemon Died 17:02:41 PANIC: Attempting to bring system down In the documentation (http://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSGU8G_12.1.0/com.ib m.adref.doc/ids_adr_0413.htm%23ids_adr_0413?lang=en) it implies that the RS secondary should not crash because it says to run onmode -d standard on the RS secondary to bring it into standard mode. But that is impossible with the server offline. And if you try to bring it online and run onmode -d standard it will give an invalid server state change message. In addition, the documentation (https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSGU8G_12.1.0/com.i bm.adref.doc/ids_sapi_033.htm?lang=en) for the equivalent SQL Admin API command says: "Run this function from an established primary server to stop replication, delete the RS secondary server, and convert the RS secondary server to a standard server." But it does the exact same thing that its onmode -b counterpart does ... crashing the old RS secondary server and not first converting it to standard mode. In either of these cases, you can't just bring up the old RS secondary server. It enters into Recovery mode and hangs in fast recovery.
