UPDATE STATISTICS LOW WITH PDQ ENABLED IS NOT ALWAYS DOING PARALLEL SCANS OF FRAGMENTED INDEXES

| Problem description: |
There are a number of combinations that appear to be incorrectly
preventing the parallel index fragment scans when using PDQ.
They are as follows:
1) if AUTO_STAT_MODE is set to 0 in the $ONCONFIG
2) if AUTO_STAT_MODE is set to 1 and STATCHANGE is set to 0
3) when running any update statistics low command with the new
FORCE keyword
If any of the above conditions is met, but the table that update
statistics low is being run against has a fragmented index, the
server will not properly spawn multiple updstat threads to scan
the fragments of the index at the same time.
So the only condition where the server is properly doing this is
if
AUTO_STAT_MODE is set to 1 and STATCHANGE is > 0 and the force
keyword is not used in the update statistics command. |
