INCREASE IN IDS STARTUP TIME WHEN ALLOCATING LARGE BUFFER POOLS

| Problem description: |
In IDS version 12.10 the timer required during startup is
increased when large buffer pools are configured. The additional
delay can be seen from messages in the online log. For example:
04:10:34 Requested shared memory segment size rounded from
223006976KB to 223008768KB
04:10:34 Shared memory segment will use huge pages.
04:10:34 Segment locked: addr=0x3ce6800000, size=228360978432
04:14:07 Successfully added a bufferpool of page size 16K.
There is a delay of approximately 3.5 minutes between the last
two messages. The length of this delay will depend on the amount
of shared memory required for the buffer pool to be allocated.
IDS version 11.70 does not require the same amount of time to
create similarly sized buffer pools. |
