Informix - Problem description

Problem IT27563 Status: Closed

AF POSSIBLE IN MT_SLOCK() CALLED BY SLC_LOOKUP_CACHE() WHEN VERYLARGE
STATEMENT IS RUN WITH STATEMENT CACHE ENABLED

product:
INFORMIX SERVER / 5725A3900 / C10 - IDS 12.10
Problem description:
You may encounter an assertion like

afstack
mt_ex_throw_sig
afsig_handler

mt_slock
slc_lookup_cache
ssc_identity
ssc_sqmksdb
sq_cmnd
sq_prepare
sqmain
spawn_thread
th_init_initgls
startup

with an error reported

959: The current transaction has been rolled back due to an
internal error.

172: ISAM error: Unexpected internal error

when statement cache is enabled and a very large statement is
run. In the reported case the statement was a big UNION ALL with
about 49141000 characters. The exact nature of the statement is
irrelevant to the occurrence. The trigger for the AF is the mere
size of the statement and the attempt to look it up in the
statement cache.

Disabling the statement cache would be the option for a
temporary relief (with the associated performance penalty it
might have, unfortunately).
