Informix - Problem description
| Problem IT09888 | Status: Closed |
INDEX REPACK CAN LOOP ON TWIG PAGES WITH VERY LARGE SETS OF DUPLICATE VALUES
| product: | |
INFORMIX SERVER / 5725A3900 / C10 - IDS 12.10
| Problem description: | |
If an index value occurs very frequently, e.g. multiple ten
thousand times, repacking this index can get into a loop over
the (first level) twig pages for this value. An 'execute
function task("index repack", "idx_name");' would appear to
hang, the 'Processed Rows' in 'onstat -g dsk' would grow and
grow (far beyond the size of the table) and a full CPU would be
utilized by this (by varying CPU VPs).
