Informix Development and support teams will move to HCL and HCL will further accelerate Informix development work.

Nothing changes for existing customers - and there is a guarantee for next 15 years of continued Informix availability, enhancements and support.

IBM did not sell the IP, not the product, not the source code - we did not sell the Informix business.

IBM remains the point of contact for sales, contracting, licensing, pricing, support towards customers. IBM product lifecycle policies remain unchanged for Informix.

IBM and HCL Strategic Partnership to

I have some very exciting news to share with you today. I am very pleased to announce that IBM and HCL are entering a strategic partnership to jointly develop and market the IBM Informix family of products.

We are building on a history of collaboration between the two companies. The new partnership combines IBM’s large Informix customer base and global sales force with HCL’s leadership in the IT services sector – accelerating the investments, evolution and adoption of Informix as a leading database – and further address the needs of an embedded database.

Effective May 1, 2017, HCL will take over development and support of the Informix product family. Product strategy, marketing and sales efforts continue to be led by IBM with HCL participating and expanding routes to market. Experience for customers remains unchanged. Existing customer agreements, first point of contact, new licenses or extensions to existing entitlements continue to be through IBM.

The conference starts on Tuesday with a keynote. Pradeep Muthalpuredathe, the manager of Informix, will provide development and support on the new situation and an outlook on the plans.
A session about new features will follow.
IBM Informix Support gives an outlook on a possible OAT successor and an overview of undocumented features of the IDS.
Two lectures will deal with SQEexplain and Performance Tuning, two with Enterprise Replication and CDC.
Finally, a question and answer session will be held again under the ambitious motto "All questions answered", in which the participants have the opportunity to ask questions to IBM experts.

IBM Informix on Cloud delivers all of the capabilities of the Informix Advanced Enterprise server deployed in on-premises configurations but without the time and expense of a hardware purchase, system administration, and management. The cloud-delivered Informix server will be configured for OLTP workloads and also includes entitlement to Informix Warehouse Accelerator (IWA) that delivers incredible query acceleration through columnar, compressed, in-memory technology.

Comes with an OLTP preconfigured instance
