DB2 - Problem description

Problem IC64696 Status: Closed

MIGRATING VERSION 8 DATABASE (ORIGINALLY CREATED IN VERSION 7) TO VERSION
9 WILL HAVE ITS SPATIAL COLUMN METHODS CORRUPTED.

product:
DB2 FOR LUW / DB2FORLUW / 970 - DB2
Problem description:
Customers migrating version 8 database (which was originally
created in version 7) to Version 9, will experience internal
corruption in the methods associated with the spatial column.
Spatial column is a special structured type column. The methods
associated with this type are executed when an operation is
performed on this column. It is this column
.
The main issue here is that these methods created in v7.2 or
earlier, which are then migrated to version 8.* will suffer an
internal corruption when migrating to v9.1, v9.5, or v9.7.
This corruption in turn affects the spatial extenders because of
their use of structured types (spacial columns).
.
This will cause different issues in different release of version
9. Here are the outcome of select query performed on such
column on version 9.7
.
1.Version 9.7 will return -901 error message
.
This APAR will address and fix the corruption caused during
migration from version 8 (for database created in version 7) to
version 9 releases described above. This APAR does not fix
corruption if you have already migrated to version 9 without
this fix.
