PRECOMPILING OR BINDING AGAINST DB2 FOR Z/OS MAY RETURN ERROR SQL0101N

Problem description:
Precompile of an application program source file or bind of a 
package from DB2 LUW client to DB2 for z/OS server,  fails with 
error: 
 
"SQL0101N : The statement is too long or too complex" 
 
if the length of the SQL statements is greater than 64KB even 
though the allowed length of SQL statements on DB2 for z/OS 9.1 
server is 2MB.
