DB2 - Problem description

Problem IC84548 Status: Closed

DB2SETUP DOES NOT DISPLAY A VALID MESSAGE WHEN THE FILE COMMAND IS NOT
AVAILABLE.

DB2 FOR LUW / DB2FORLUW / A10 - DB2
Problem description:
If the file command is not available, db2setup will fail with an 
unclear message. You can verify if the package containing the 
file command is available by running command below: 
 
# rpm -qf /usr/bin/file 
file-5.04-6.el6.x86_64 
 
e.g. running db2setup to open the Launchpad shows the following 
message: 
 
"This launchpad is not intended to run on the current platform. 
Check the product documentation or contact your vendor for more 
information about supported platforms." 
 
After applying the efix, a more valid error message will be 
displayed: 
 
DBI1062E  A file set or package name "file" is missing. 
 
Explanation: 
 
The above file set or package must be installed before using 
this 
command. 
 
User response: 
 
Install the file set or package and then reissue this command.
