Swap space and other Operating System memory information will be
reported unavailable, missing, or incorrectly in various
locations, eg. db2pd -osinfo output and in the db2diag.log
header.
This only occurs on DB2 9.5 Fix Pack 5 running on AIX levels
older than 5.3 TL09 or 6.1 TL02. It is the result of the
inclusion of a more recent AIX libperfstat.h header file in FP5,
and the problem has been corrected for Fix Pack 6.
Symptoms:
1. db2diag.log header may report wrong physical/virtual/swap
memory information, eg.
Physical Memory(MB): total:2415919106 free:2415919106
Virtual Memory(MB): total:0 free:0
Swap Memory(MB): total:0 free:0
2. STMM will report messages on every tuning cycle if Database
Memory is being tuned:
FUNCTION: DB2 UDB, Self tuning memory manager,
stmmCalcMinMaxFree, probe:1833
MESSAGE : ECF=0x90000002=-1879048190=ECF_FAILED
Failed
DATA #1 : String, 36 bytes
Unable to determine swap space info.
3. db2pd -osinfo may be missing the sections titled
"Physical Memory and Swap"

The only workaround available is to upgrade AIX to 5.3 TL09 or
higher, or 6.1 TL02 or higher. |
