DB2 FOR LUW / DB2FORLUW / A10 - DB2

A query may exhibit hanging symptom during its compilation when 
all the following conditions are met: 
1. Query has outer join construct. 
2. One stream input to the outer join is a subquery having 
CONNECT BY clause. 
3. The same subquery that contains CONNECT BY also has 
correlation predicate, i.e. a predicate referencing column from 
outer query block. 
 
To verify if the query hits this problem, use db2pd -dump and 
search the following call stack in the dump file: 
 
correlation_fromqun 
sqlnr_OJprd_pushdown 
sqlnr_optprep
