ONCHECK -CI INCORRECTLY REPORTS "PLEASE DROP AND RECREATE INDEX"IF AN
ENGINE RESOURCE ISSUE HAS OCCURRED

Problem description:
If oncheck -cI is run against an index and an engine resource
limit is encountered (e.g. lack of TEMP DBSPACE) the oncheck
will report the following misleading message:

oncheck -cI large_idx:tab1#tab1_idx1

WARNING: index check requires a s-lock on tables whose lock
level is page.

Validating index tab1_idx1 for large_idx:informix.tab1...
                Index tab1_idx1
                  Index  fragment partition
dbspace2k_large_index in DBspace dbspace2k_large_index
Could not check rowids and perform dataindex check
ISAM error: no free disk space for sort
Please Drop and ReCreate Index tab1_idx1 for
large_idx:informix.tab1.

The message "Please Drop and ReCreate Index" is misleading as
the index has not been successfully checked and may be valid.

Checking a Forest of Trees index may exhaust the LOCK table
leading to the following message:

oncheck -cI dbname:tabname#indexname
Validating index indexname for dbname:owner.tabname...
                              Index indexname
                                Index  fragment partition partn
in DBspace dbspacename
Please Drop and ReCreate Index dbname:tabname#indexname

In this case there is no explanation of the problem encountered
by oncheck; reviewing the online message log may provide details
on the root cause.
