Problem IT44264 | Status: Closed |
LONG LASTING PUSH DATA SESSIONS CAN ACCUMULATE LARGE AMOUNTS OF MEMORY EVEN IF CONFIGURED TO DISCARD MOST RECORDS
product: | |
INFORMIX SERVER / 5725A3900 / E10 -
Problem description: | |
Any Smart Trigger (aka. Push Data (PD)) session would get a specific PD transaction structure allocated to it for every transaction reaching the Enterprise Replication (ER) grouper, just in case the grouper would determine the transaction has content for it. The se structures, including a "PTMutex" mutex associated with each of them, would only be freeded once the PD session's client receivi ng the data has moved beyond their respective COMMIT log position, or if the PD session gets deleted. As a consequence, a long lasting PD session, typically 'detachable', unattended (without SQL client session) and possibly forgotten, could be the cause for lots and lots of "PTMutex" mutexes and a larger than expected pushdata memory pool. This would even happen if no real traffic occurred for the tables replicated by such session, or if the session was configured with max_pending_ops, so discarding any traffic coming its way beyond this value.
