Informix go’s NoSQL

Mit der im September 2013 freigegebenen Version 12.10.xC2 verfügt Informix über JSON kompatible NoSQL Funktionalität. Damit hat die IBM für Informix das Tor zur BigData Datenbank noch einmal weiter aufgestoßen.

Zu Warehouse Accelerator und TimeSeries Funktionalität, kommt nun ein dritter wichtiger Baustein: die vom relationalen Schema abweichende Speicherung und Verarbeitung von Daten in der für Webapplikationen weit verbreiteten Java Script Object Notation (JSON).

Für Informix wurde hierzu der Satz der nativen Datentypen um JSON bzw. um das binäre Äquivalent BSON erweitert. Bei der Erweiterung des Funktionsumfanges wurde auf Kompatibilität zu der am weitesten verbreiteten NoSQL Datenbank – MongoDB - geachtet, so dass MongoDB  Applikationen weitgehend direkt auch mit Informix ausgeführt werden können.

Die erste größere Vorstellung von NoSQL für Informix erfolgte Ende September im „Chat with the lab Webcast“ durch Jerry Keesee und John Miller. Noch ist das Thema im Web wenig vertreten.
