    For years, Adobe Flash was the first choice to visualize animations and sophisticated graphics in a browser. Due to recurring security issues, the use of Adobe Flash Player has long been discouraged. The IBM Informix OpenAdmin Tool also uses the Adobe Flash Player in some areas for the graphical representation of complex contexts.

    Security warnings and the end of support for the Adobe Flash Player, already announced for 2020, prompted us early on to switch the graphical interface of the Admin-Scouts to the Dojo Toolkit and HTML5. We have step by step converted all relevant modules. This involved the redesign of all charts and the elaborate redesign of important modules such as the SQL-Trace or the Storage-Module.

The Advanced Developer Edition V12.10, based on IBM® Informix® Advanced Enterprise Edition V12.10, is licensed in a way that matches requirements for preproduction development activities. Specifically, it is licensed to use the Authorized User metric so that a customers can name users to do the pre-production activities, such as testing, performance evaluation, and quality assurance, before deploying applications in production based on Informix.

Effective May, 2013, Informix is no longer included in the Database Developer Edition. For details, refer to Software Announcement ZP13-0191, dated March 26, 2013. This new edition provides both a path for new customers of Informix and previous customers who use the Database Developer Edition want to move to the latest Informix edition. As needed, existing entitlements of Database Developer Edition and associated support may be exchanged for Informix Advanced Developer Edition at a 1:1 Authorized User ratio.

The Informix Advanced Developer Edition contains the features of IBM Informix Advanced Enterprise Edition with a new software license that restricts usage to nonproduction
activities. On an Authorized User basis, the license permits customers to evaluate and test all features of Informix.

The terms and conditions in the software license for various Informix editions are revised to improve clarity and remove certain restrictions on the use of the products.

Informix Advanced Workgroup Edition:

  • The Informix Warehouse Accelerator component can be used in conjunction with another Advanced edition.
  • You can now use HDR, RSS, and SDS with the same terms that apply to Informix Workgroup Edition.
  • Prohibited components are explicitly listed for clarity. In the previous license, the prohibited components could be found in the Informix Workgroup Edition license (a supporting program).
  • The previous limit of 1600 in PVU pricing is lifted.

Informix Advanced Enterprise Edition:

The Informix Warehouse Accelerator component can be used in conjunction with another Advanced edition.

Informix Workgroup Edition, Informix Innovator-C Edition, Informix Express Edition:

Partitioning is no longer mentioned in the license. Partitioning entitlement remains enforced in the product, as before.

IBM Informix Software withdrawal selected products

Effective November 12, 2013 , IBM will withdraw from marketing the following products licensed under the IBM nternational Program License Agreement. A replacement product and availability date is listed if one is available.

Informix Choice Edition is being discontinued. Clients with existing Informix Choice Edition entitlements will have their entitlements automatically migrated to Informix Growth Edition. Clients requiring a migration to an product should contact their renewal representative.

The Floating User Single Session Single Install (FUSI) licensing metric is being discontinued. Clients with existing entitlements based on the FUSI metric will automatically be converted to the Authorized User Single Install (AUSI) metric at the rate of two AUSI's per FUSI. Clients requiring a migration to an alternate metric or product should contact their renewal representative.

The JDBC driver is being discontinued as a standalone product. Clients with existing entitlements for the JDBC driver will be automatically migrated to the Client SDK, which now includes the JDBC driver.

Informix Enterprise Hypervisor Edition V12.10 combines IBM Informix Enterprise Edition and supported operating systems, and is optimized for Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server and AIX . It can take the form of a single database server or a member of a cluster of database servers.

By deploying and running Informix Enterprise Hypervisor Edition in virtualized environments, you can better utilize hardware, which may ultimately reduce hardware, power, cooling, and real estate costs. Increased hardware utilization allows a single machine to be partitioned into multiple smaller virtual machines, each of which can run an instance of Informix Enterprise Hypervisor Edition.
