Problem IT40221 | Status: Closed |
DATA DICTIONARY MUTEX WAIT MAY NEVER RETURN LEADING TO HANG OF MULTIPLE SESSIONS
product: | |
INFORMIX SERVER / 5725A3900 / E10 -
Problem description: | |
When dealing with the removal of entries from the data dictionary it is possible to get into a state whereby one or more threads wait forever on a mutex. An example output from the onstat -g wmx command: Mutexes with waiters: mid addr name holder lkcnt waiter waittime 3598 c0000000110ca2f0 ddh chain 2 0 2147483647 60 1236 59 1236 57 1236 61 1236 58 1236 55 1193 56 1132 54 752 The value 2147483647 for lkcnt is invalid which results in the thread(s) waiting forever. A typical stack for a thread in this state: yield_processor_mvp mt_lock_wait mt_lock_helper mt_lock decrrefcount_trace rmdiclink_trace closecb close_cb_subtree_r close_cb_subtree closesdb doreleasesdb sq_release_workhorse sq_release sqmain listen_verify spawn_thread th_init_initgls A restart of the Informix server is necessary to resolve this problem.
