DB2 - Problem description
Problem IT26406 | Status: Closed |
DB2RELOCATEDB ERROR: COULD NOT OPEN FILE/DEVICE
product: | |
DB2 FOR LUW / DB2FORLUW / A50 - DB2
Problem description: | |
db2relocatedb tool can generate incorrect target container name (CONT_PATH) and fail with "ERROR: Could not open file/device" if: 1) The container is path has changed 2) The container is an absolute path, but has been defined under the dbpath 3) The instance name is changing The result is that the container name is overwritten by the instance name. This can manifest itself in two ways: 1) If the container name length is longer than the instance name length you'll end up with the instance name +the remainder of the container name as the new container name. Ex: oldname = "mylongcontname"; instance = "newinstance"; newcontname = "newinstanceame" 2) If the container name length is less than the instance name length the new container name will appear as a truncated instance name. Ex oldname = "cont"; instance = "newinstance"; newcontname = "newi"
