DB2 - Problem description

Problem IT29771 Status: Closed

UPDATE OF STATS USING "DB2LOOK -D -Z -T -M -C -R" OUTPUT CAUSES
DEADLOCKS

product:
DB2 FOR LUW / DB2FORLUW / B10 - DB2
Problem description:
On highly transactional and available systems, users dont run
the actual runstats but update the stats manually using db2look
mimic.

When db2look mimic has been generated on a specific table, it
also generates 3 updates of sysstat.functions: one full update
of the table with defaults, the other two updates pertaining to
explain tables.

The full update of sysstat.functions table may cause deadlock
when ran along with active transactions.

And the updates of sysstat.functions are unnecessary when mimic
is requested only for a specific table.
