DB2 - Problem description

Problem IT31385 Status: Closed

Incorrect calculation of columnar-organized table space consumption in
tbpsize_entitlement_req.sql

product:
DB2 FOR LUW / DB2FORLUW / B50 - DB2
Problem description:
Users using the script tbpsize_entitlement_req.sql in the
install directory to estimate the storage consumption of their
database may notice that the COL_OBJECT_L_SIZE_KB value for
their tables, corresponding to the COL_OBLECT_L_SIZE value in
the SYSIBMADM.ADMINTABINFO administrative view, can have a
greater value than the COL_OBJECT_P_SIZE value in
SYSIBMADM.ADMINTABINFO for the same table. This is because there
are some cases where space reclamation in tables can cause
COL_OBJECT_L_SIZE to be incorrectly calculated but not
COL_OBJECT_P_SIZE.

Local Fix:
In order to make tbpsize_entitlement_req.sql more accurately
measure space consumption, we can provide a modified script. The
modified script will analyze both the COL_OBJECT_L_SIZE and
COL_OBJECT_P_SIZE values for each table and use in its
calculations the most accurate representation of space
consumption that is available.
