DB2 - Problem description

Problem IT38534 Status: Closed

DB2ICRT CREATES / CHANGES .PROFILE OF THE INSTANCE OWNER TO HAVEA GROUP OF
THE FENCED USER SPECIFIED WITH IT.

product:
DB2 FOR LUW / DB2FORLUW / B10 - DB2
Problem description:
On Db2 V11.1.4.6 and later, when we create a Db2 instance with
db2icrt command , we see the
following behavior:

1. Create a user to be an instance owner.

# useradd db2inst1
# ls -la /home/db2inst1
total 20
drwx------ 2 db2inst1 db2inst1 90 Sep 15 20:20 .
drwxr-xr-x. 9 root root 113 Sep 15 20:20 ..
-rw-r--r-- 1 db2inst1 db2inst1 18 Dec 4 2020 .bash_logout
-rw-r--r-- 1 db2inst1 db2inst1 141 Dec 4 2020 .bash_profile
-rw-r--r-- 1 db2inst1 db2inst1 376 Dec 4 2020 .bashrc
-rw-r--r-- 1 db2inst1 db2inst1 172 Feb 6 2020 .kshrc
-rw-r--r-- 1 db2inst1 db2inst1 658 Mar 3 2020 .zshrc

2. Create an instance with a db2icrt command as follows.

# ./db2icrt -u db2fenc1 db2inst1

3. After that, a .profile file was generated, and its group was
the one for the fenced user.

# ls -la /home/db2inst1
total 28
drwxr-xr-x 6 db2inst1 db2inst1 161 Sep 15 21:25 .
drwxr-xr-x. 9 root root 113 Sep 15 20:20 ..
-rw-r--r-- 1 db2inst1 db2inst1 18 Dec 4 2020 .bash_logout
-rw-r--r-- 1 db2inst1 db2inst1 141 Dec 4 2020 .bash_profile
-rw-r--r-- 1 db2inst1 db2inst1 526 Sep 15 21:25 .bashrc
drwxrwxr-x 3 db2inst1 db2inst1 19 Sep 15 21:25 .config
drwxrwxr-x 3 db2inst1 db2inst1 17 Sep 15 21:25 .ibm
-rw-r--r-- 1 db2inst1 db2inst1 172 Feb 6 2020 .kshrc
drwxrwxr-x 3 db2inst1 db2inst1 19 Sep 15 21:25 .local
-rw-r--r-- 1 db2inst1 db2fenc1 169 Sep 15 21:25 .profile
drwxrwsr-t 18 db2inst1 db2inst1 4096 Sep 15 21:25 sqllib
-rw-r--r-- 1 db2inst1 db2inst1 658 Mar 3 2020 .zshrc

The group of the .profile of the instance owner should be the
one for the instance owner itself, but it becomes the one for
the fenced user.
