Informix - Problem description

Problem IT09962 Status: Closed

INFORMIX UNABLE TO ACCEPT MORE THAN 32767 CONNECTIONS

product:
INFORMIX SERVER / 5725A3900 / C10 - IDS 12.10
Problem description:
Informix 12.10 has increased the number of transactions beyond
the 32k limit that exists in earlier versions. Associated with
this increased limit is the number of threads that can run
within the server. However, attempts to connect more than 32767
users via a TCP network connection or using stream pipes will
result in errors once the limit of file descriptors within the
server has been reached. The client may receive an error such as
-27001 and error messages may appear in the online log. An
example of such messages:

16:12:41 (35009536) sockets error - registering a file
16:12:41 listener-thread: err = 0: oserr = 0: errstr = :

Comment
Users who need more than 32k simultaneous connections now can
set "ulimit -n" on OS level to a desirable number to increase
the number of open file handles we allow.
