UPDATE STATISTICS CAN FAIL WITH -721 OR -597 IF UPDATE STATISTICS FOR PROCEDURE IS RUN

| Problem description: |
Stored procedures created in IDS version prior to 12.10.xC4 can
cause -721 errors or -597 errors during update statistics if the
server is upgraded to a version greater than or equal to
12.10.xC4.
Consider the procedure named "myprocedure" that was created in
11.50 and then ultimately upgraded to 12.10.xC7 for example or
even to 14.10.xC1. If you connect to the database and run
update statistics, you might see the following errors:
$ dbaccess mydb -
> update statistics;
721: SPL routine(informix.myprocedure) is no longer valid
> update statistics for procedure myprocedure;
597: [Internal] Premature End Of Buffer
Rebuilding procedure will remedy the situation, but is not
always a simple task for databases with a large number of stored
procedures. |
