Informix - Problem description
Problem IT35218 | Status: Closed |
SEARCH OF SDS PAGING FILE IS INEFFICIENT FOR LARGE FILE SIZES
product: | |
INFORMIX SERVER / 5725A3900 / E10 -
Problem description: | |
When the size of a paging file on an SDS server becomes large (millions of pages) more time is consumed by threads as the file is searched. Such threads may be observed to be in a running state for extended periods of time as they search the page file or wait to acquire the spin lock to start the search. Using the onmode -X stack command or an OS command to capture the stack of the running thread may show: sdcloneFindPage_Int sdcloneFindPage chunkio_sdCloneRead chunkio physio ra_submit_ios ra_do_pagelist_req readahead_daemon th_init_initgls startup The above stack is an example from a readahead thread. Stacks from other threads are also possible and all will have the function sdcloneFindPage_Int in common near to the top of the stack.
